TACT – Towards a Community Transition in Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere & Troutbeck Bridge was formed in February 2010 as a response to a group of community members wanting to work more with sustainability issues & green awareness in the immediate area.
The intention was – and is – to create events and work with local groups already doing this work to raise more awareness, opportunities and resources for the public to “get involved” – doing things in ways that are practical, ethical and fun-filled. At the same time to inspire others, support further transition projects – and basically keep working towards a vision of a resiliant sustainable future.
Working with the Town Council, and supported by SLACC, amongst others, TACT has been working to create these events throughout 2010, with a long-term vision that extends into 2011, and beyond.
There are a great many folk out there involved in the Transition movement – or just inspired towards community resiliance or “being more green”. The more we can work together, share resources, pool ideas – and have fun doing so – the more we have the oppertunity to work towards resiliant sustainable futures. Blogging, website, meetings, dinners – it all takes a great deal of time so please add comments, load content – and basically, get it all growing…. Got to keep those gardens growing at the same time… But have a look around, see what’s happening or drop us an email!
New members welcome – contact Joan, Debbie or Morag if you have a project you’d like to propose, or want to take part in current projects – or simply be on our mailing list for events & meetings.
